Approved Medication List

In general it is best to avoid any medications during the first twelve (12) weeks of pregnancy.  If you are taking a prescription, please notify us as soon as possible.  Use our Approved Medication List to determine what medications you can take safely during pregnancy.

PAIN MEDICATION    
Tylenol (acetaminophen)    
Codeine (by prescription only)   
DO NOT USE: Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen.
    
NAUSEA
Try small frequent meals.
Ginger Ale, Vitamin B6, Sea Bands,
Sweet fruit syrup from canned fruits, i.e. pears/peaches

ANTIBIOTICS     
Amoxicillin, Keflex, Omnicef, Z Pack
  
COUGH/COLDS

Robitussin (cough)
Robitussin DM (non productive cough)
        
DECONGESTANTS
       
Sudafed (psuedoephedrine), Robitussin CF, Tavist D, Ocean Mist Nasal Spray, Zyrtec

HEARTBUN, INDIGESTION, GAS        
Tums, Rolaids, Gas-X, Tagamet, Mylanta (safe to use for first 12 weeks), Zantac
DO NOT USE:  Pepto-Bismol

INSOMNIA
Benadryl 
      
HEMORRHOIDS     
Preparation H      

TOOTHACHE/DENTIST
Orajel, Novacaine, Dental x-ray with lead shield

YEAST INFECTIONS
Monistat

DIARRHEA           
Imodium (notify office if persists)
BRAT Diet (banana, rice, applesauce  toast)

CONSTIPATION
Colace, FiberCon, Citrucel, Metamucil, Milk of Magnesia, Fiberall

LICE TREATMENTS
Rid       
DO NOT USE:  Kwell

ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS
