The Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) accredits the Laboratory at Associates for Women’s Medicine. This accreditation is given only to those laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of laboratory testing, and pass a rigorous on-site inspection every 2 years.

Having a lab on-site allows our providers to obtain quick and accurate lab results, which contributes to the overall quality care that our patients at Associates For Women’s Medicine have come to expect.

The staff at Associates For Women’s Medicine Laboratory maintains their knowledge of laboratory medicine by actively participating in a well-documented quality assurance program, a continuing education program, and a proficiency-testing program.

The test menu provided by our laboratory is customized to the practice of OB/GYN medicine and to the specific needs of our providers. We perform testing on-site which include the full OB panel, CBCs, Chemistries, Immunoassays and several Microbiology tests. Tests not performed in-house are sent to Labcorp, one of the largest clinical laboratories in the US, providing a complete line of routine and esoteric procedures. For the specialized genetic testing, we send our specimens to Genzyme Genetics, a leading provider of genetic testing services focused on pre and post-natal care, reproductive and fertility medicine.
