Richard Waldman, MD

Richard Waldman, MD

Dr. Richard Waldman received his medical degree from the Rutgers College of Medicine in 1972. In 1976 he completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. After a two year United States Air Force obligation, he returned to Syracuse and has been practicing here ever since. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. For the more than 5 years he has been listed as one of the Best Doctors in America. 

Dr. Waldman currently serves as Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at St. Joseph's Hospital is the Immediate Past President of the Medical Staff and a former member of the Board of Trustees. In the past he was President of the Central New York Obstetrics and Gynecology Society and was a member of the board of the National Perinatal Association. Dr. Waldman has received several honors including a United States Air Force Commendation Medal, a District Service Award and a Section service award from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, and an award for community service from the Onondaga County Medical Society. 

Dr. Waldman has been very active in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. On a national level he was President of that 56,000 member organization from 2010-2011. He was also Chairman of the New York State District for almost 6 years. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Liability Insurance Company. 

Dr. Waldman lectures frequently both in the United States and internationally. He published several medical journal articles and recently Co-edited an entire Journal dedicated to articles on collaborative practice. During his career, Dr. Waldman has advocated for improvements in the health and welfare of women by establishing the first hospital based midwifery practice in Central New York, father attended Cesarean Sections, the Birth Place, VBACs, the New York State Midwifery Bill and the right for women to directly access their OB-GYN. He and his wife Elaine led a five year effort to improve Obstetrical care in Russia by consulting, lecturing, leading a team of experts and entertaining Russian delegates in the United States. As a result of his work in Russia, Dr. Waldman was granted Professor Emeritus status at the famous Kulakoff Perinatal Center in Moscow. 

Recently Dr. Waldman limited his practice to gynecology. He is a full service gynecologist doing surgery in the hospital and in the office as well. He performs minimally invasive surgery. He is currently performing Essure® and Novasure ® ablations as well as major and minor woman's health surgery. He has a particular interest in treating women with chronic vaginal complaints.

 

Michelle J. Auerbach, DO

Michelle J. Auerbach, DO

Dr. Michelle J. Auerbach is a native of Watertown, New York and graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2004 where she received a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Neuroscience. She earned her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Dr. Auerbach completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

 

She is board certified in OB-GYN by the American Board of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology.

 

Her professional interests include minimally invasive gynecological surgery, urinary incontinence, office procedures including endometrial ablations and hysteroscopy, contraceptive management, as well as the management of high risk obstetrical patients.

 

She currently resides in Marcellus, New York with her husband, two children, and their energetic chocolate lab Keene.

 

James Brown, JR., MD

James Brown, JR., MD

Dr. James E. Brown, Jr. is a Rochester, New York native. He did his undergraduate work at Ithaca College, graduating with a degree in Honors Biology. He immediately entered medical school at the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York and completed his residency in 1993.

Dr. Brown is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in addition to being a member in several professional societies and associations. Dr. Brown holds academic appointments as Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Ob/Gyn at St Joseph's Hospital and SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Brown has a special interest in high risk obstetrics and infertility, minimally invasive laparoscopic gynecological surgery, as well as office based minimally invasive surgeries, such as ESSURE.

He was a founding member of M.O.R.E OB, a comprehensive patient safety, quality improvement, and professional development program for hospital obstetrical units. St Joseph's Hospital Health Center was the first hospital in the U.S. to incorporate this forward-thinking program which strives to improve the safety of obstetrical services.

He has been in practice in Syracuse for the past 15 years and resides here in the city with his family.

Catherine W. Bailey, MD, MPH

 

Dr. Bailey was born and raised in Central New York and has been serving the medical community here in Syracuse for the past seven years.  After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the College of the Holy Cross and a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Michigan, Dr. Bailey returned home for her medical education.  She completed her medical degree and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY Upstate Medical University.  Dr. Bailey is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Bailey provides healthcare to women in all stages of life from adolescents, to women who wish to start and grow a family, to women nearing or in menopause.  Her interests include high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery, contraceptive management, cervical dysplasia and menopausal medicine.  She takes great pride in talking to women about their healthcare needs.  When not at work Dr. Bailey enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and two young daughters.
