Paula Jessmore R.N., F.N.P. has a total of 33 years experience in the healthcare field. She began her career as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY where she worked for 8 years on the gynecology unit. She continued her education at Community General Hospital’s Nurse Practitioner program in Syracuse, NY. Paula practiced family medicine for over 11 years in a large family practice group. She also has 4 years experience in adult medicine as a nurse practitioner in a skilled nursing facility. She is a member of the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association. Paula joined Dr. Douglass Powell’s Associates for Women’s Medicine office in 2008.

Kandice Kowalewski, RPA-C is a Syracuse native. She graduated magna cum laude earning her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from LeMoyne College. In 2003, Ms. Kowalewski completed her training as a physician assistant from the LeMoyne College Physician Assistant Program. She has completed additional training in colposcopic procedures as well as clinical bone densitometry. As a certified clinical densitometrist, Ms. Kowalewski provides counseling and interpretation of DEXA scan reports. She has been practicing as a physician assistant in obstetrics and gynecology in central New York for the past four years. Ms. Kowalewski is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, International Society of Clinical Densitometry and Tri Beta- the national biological honor society. She resides with her husband and son in Manlius, New York.

Sheryl is a registered Physician's Assistant who joined the staff of Associates for Women’s Medicine in July of 1998. She graduated from Gannon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. Sheryl also attended the new school for Social Research in Syracuse. Sheryl's special interest is women's healthcare. She is a clinical instructor of Ob/Gyn for second year medical students at the SUNY Health Science Center, a pre-clinical coordinator of the Physician Assistant Program at LeMoyne College and a certified counselor in perinatal bereavement. Sheryl has been a previous recipient of the NYS Physician Assistant of the Year Award from the New York State Society of Physician Assistants. Sheryl resides with her family in Jamesville.

Nurse Practitioner Catherine C. Powell, R.N., A.N.P., brings a special background to the practice as a graduate of the only pediatric school of nursing in the United States, Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and Northeastern University. She has nine years experience as a gynecology nurse oncologist at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse and was Nurse Manager of the PMS Center in Central New York. Cathy has 14 years experience in general Ob/Gyn and infertility counseling and is a graduate of the Community General Hospital’s nurse practitioner program in adult health. She is a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses and the American College of Gynecologists as well as the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the NYS Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Cathy also has a background in holistic nursing and alternative / complementary medicine. She is a Certified Reiki Master, as well as, certified in Zero Balance and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Through her work in oncology she found that these modalities help a patient in healing as it addresses the whole patient in mind, body and spirit. Cathy offers these services at the Liverpool location.
